A 2BHK apartment in Bengaluru was envisioned as a space that harmoniously blends their cultural heritages with the practicalities of modern living, emphasizing a welcoming kitchen for hosting, ample storage, and conscious material usage.

Sudeshna and Ankush, one year into their marriage, sought to transform their first property into a home reflecting their shared journey and individual backgrounds.
Challenge -
The challenge lay in harmoniously blending two distinct yet similar cultural aesthetics while prioritizing functionality and creating a space that felt both personal and timeless.
Objectives -
-
Incorporate elements of Bengali and Assamese cultures into the home's aesthetics.
-
Create a welcoming and functional space, particularly highlighting the kitchen for Sudeshna's love of cooking and hosting.
-
Provide ample and thoughtfully designed storage solutions throughout the home.
Aligning with CCOD's core principles of Empathy > Function > Form, the design process began with a deep understanding of Sudeshna and Ankush's lifestyle, cultural nuances, and aspirations.
Key Learnings-
The kitchen emerged as the heart of the home, driving the design concept. The project highlighted the importance of understanding the specific storage needs of the clients.
Points of Inspiration-
The rich cultural heritage of Bengal and Assam served as the primary source of inspiration, influencing the choice of colors, textures, and design elements.
Design Considerations-
A key aspect was to minimize material usage and repurpose existing items, reflecting a "conscious" approach to sustainability in the Indian context.
